UPDATES SEPARATED BY TIMES
(for recent add-ons go towards the bottom)

October 22 12.15 pm

Racers trying to get back from Bakersfield are at a dead stop at the Palmdale/Siverwood 138 and I15 JCT.

At 12.27 pm the 4 lanes were converted down to one lane and about 40 truck lengths from the 138 exit as far as the eye could see in ones rear view mirror, traffic was at a deadlock.

At the start of the decent, several miles earlier, a CHP vehicle was weaving back and forth forcing the traffic to a crawl and the eventual merging of lanes. All vehicles were forced to exit the freeway. Currently a Rap staff member is among the group being re-routed, about 50 yards from the 138 exit.

Fire Trucks and CHP are blocking the downward pass traffic. CalTrans and the CHP are grouped together in conference style at the I15/215 138 junction apparently discussing the situation.

Some people chose to detour towards Siverwood Lake, others headed towards Palmdale, while the majority decided to wait for the road to open.

The South bound on ramp at the 138 is currently closed and baracaded.

October 22 - 12.46 pm
There are about 30 vehicles, including the Web-Slave (RAP) truck, taking refuge at the Union 76 Gas Station. Traffic up the hill, as far as the eye can see, (10-20 miles) is at the mercy of time.

The last car to make it up the hill reported a fire at Kendall Ave and the 15 freeway, real close to split of 15/215 area and Glen Helen.

Companies like DHL have trucks and vans stranded (with crews). Hundreds of truckers and thousands of civilians Courier Crew are waiting, and a RAP photo journalist is still among the stranded, sending updates via phone.
