Frank Nagore, Brian Busby, Jeff Steward, Nick Childers, Chris Feustel, Don Jones and David Fuentes got dunked to the Lake bottom during capsule orientation. David, son of NJBA VP Ron Fuentes, a new face to racing, made his license pass this weekend, while Frank, a return veteran, came back to have some fun.
Frank who endured a nasty crash in 2002, promised his daughter, Colleen, that he would stop racing at Lake Ming.
Frank said, "She said she would stop helping me. She checks the valves, motor, fuels and puts me in and out of the water. She has never missed a race" He wasn't elated about the decision to not race at Lake Ming, but he had no choice in the matter. He wanted to return to the NJBA track right away, but without her he couldn't.
Franks fathers day gift was to return to Lake Ming and compete in his capsile 141 Blue Thunder and be accompanied by ... guess who ... the entire family including Colleen.
"This was a great Fathers Day, I had my wife Brenda and daughters Jenifer and Colleen and I got to spend time with my grandchildren Alex, Anthony and Ashley."
Frank said he was looking forward to this for over a month. In April, at Lakefest, after Frank and Blue Thunder #141, landed on the island, Colleen had a change of heart and finally agreed to return to the NJBA track. "I missed it. It is more fun here and the IHBA is really competitive."
Frank got a few other presents this weekend. He won the Runner Up BFJ Trophy and set a 7.63 ET (record and a 138 MPH record, with a dozen fresh stitches in his foot. Frank sliced it at work, just before the race.
Ironically, the last time he had a foot injury was at Lake Ming, when he broke it during his crash. Frank was going 135 MPH when he crashed at the finish line September 2002.
Franks new record 7.37 pass, was the fastest Frank has ever run in an open or capsule boat, so Colleen we hope you didn't expect him to slow down any! |
