Race boats zoomed across Lake Ming like speeding bullets, during the 2007 NJBA May Shootout.

The racers that arrived prior to the event, battled high winds, that caused extra muscling of canopies. The gusts finally subsided in the wee hours of Saturday morning, giving way to a great event of drag racing.

Top Fuel Hydro, Whiskey River, owned by Jay Haroutunian and piloted by Childers, ran in the exhibition class. TFH are the fastest class in the drag race associations and not often seen at Lake Ming. One would think Childers must start the engine turn it off and just glide, but the wake tells a different story.

A few new faces showed up for the event one of which was Steve Henry driving #799, Flash Point, a Pro Mod. Steve walked away with the event trophy for the PM class.

He thought he would escape the water dunking, a NJBA tradition to newbies who make it to the awards podium.

Steve was excited, "This is my first race with the NJBA, and everyone here is so accepting AND I am taking home a trophy!"

When warned to be prepared to get wet, Steve replied, "In that?" and motions towards the lake, "no I came to boat across it not swim in it."

"Don't forget to remove your cell phone, when you are getting dunked."

Steve insisted, "I don't think I'll get dunked by anyone. No one here really knows who I am, so I don't see that happening".

Steve was wrong. Steve got wet.

Steve was not the only racer trying to dry out at Lake Ming.

Arnold von Bargen and Tony Hammon suffered the same fate photo and race results winners click here.

Speaking of drying out, Rolf Sammons is in detox trying to recuperate from his bracket racing addiction. Click here to read more about Rolfs recovery plan.
