Tom Cress and Ron Fuentes, made a wager during the NJBA Tom Papp Memorial Season Opener. The bet was for the financial meager amount of one dollar, while the sentimental value was much higher. Tom announced,”I am going to meet him (Ron) in the finals and the loser has to sign a dollar bill that says, "I'm a loser", written on it.
The dollar was exchanged at the awards ceremony. The bill was signed by Cress. The photo to the right shows the winner, Fuentes, examining the authenticity of the bill.

Both Tom Cress, and Ron Fuentes, donated their trophies and winnings to the Papp family, in honor of Tom Papp, their close friend.

Also at the event.
The NJBA along with RAP extend a warm welcome back to two returnees to the Drag Boat Racing arena.

The first is Brian Metcalfe, a former racer, who had taken a 10 year hiatus from boat racing. Over the past three years he was building a new boat. He made his official comeback by running his first quarter pass of the season at the event.

The second is, Joe Shelfo. Joe missed a couple of years of racing on the liquid track, due to recuperation from an auto accident, which resulted in a serious neck injuries. After doing the tech support last year, the desire to return was just to great to resist for 2007.
