Don Ermshar Hospitalized

The Jury is still out on what caused the multiple World Champion and 40 year veteran dragboat driver Don Ermshar to crash his Lucas Oil TAF in Texas during competition.

The story goes that he was crossing the finish line area at 160+ miles an hour when his boat suddenly went out of control and crashed. The capsule that was designed to keep him safe broke away from the boat but it appears that his capsule lid opened which led to the capsule sinking and causing Rescue some additional time to get him safely up and on board the boat, and then to shore.

Don spent a few weeks in the Texas ICU before they were able to release him to be transfered by air to Kaiser in Riverside near his home. He was then transported to the Fontana facility on August 1st, where a top surgical specialist had to operate to remove fluid from Don's brain.
